Kaleb sighed, then fiddled with his fingers again. Slipping his hands in his pockets, he sighed again and looked around the pier. "Nice," he thought, looking over the ocean. He hadn't really explored around the town yet, since his family just moved in. Kaleb frowned, and moved his hair out of his eyes. He stumbled on a rock and fell on the ground. "Hmph." he muttered under his breath. Looking around one more time, he checked to see if he would find anybody he knew in the town. He'd seen Rosanne, his cousin, but not anybody else. Kaleb smiled lightly and moved towards the edge of the water. He didn't like the sand getting between his toes, so he kept his sneakers on. Maybe he'll go on the ferris wheel afterwards if he met up with one of his friends.
Maybe one of his siblings were coming, but Kaleb didn't really know. He sat on the sandy ground, watching the waves, and looking back at the ferris wheel. He lay on the sand and watched the ocean quietly. He'd wished he brought his sketchpad to draw, or at least take a picture with his camera. "Maybe I'll run into a friend." he thought again. He closed his eyes, then heard footsteps coming towards him. Somebody was in front of him.

JC wrapped her arms around herself, closing her eyes for a second to just take a breath. She had felt awful the entire day, with moving to another city. 'Well at least it's with the same family.' she thought to herself. Even though it didn't quiet help/ She had been miserably all day from a headache, the different orders, the unpacking; she finally just decided to race out of the house. Worse, she forgot her jacket and she was freezing for some reason. She sighed. 'Maybe tomorrow will be better.' She hoped.
She walked down the boardwalk, onto the pier, looking at the ocean. She wished she had taken her camera out of the box before she had dashed out. This was beautiful. She ran her fingers through her hair, looking out at the ocean. She kept walking along the water's edge, not paying attention to what was in front of her. She tripped over something rather large. "GAH!" She fell onto the sandy ground, half of her getting wet in the process from falling close to the water. "DAMNIT!" She screamed, not thinking that what she had tripped over was a person. She curled up, not even looking behind her, and she buried her face in her knees. Today was so terrible, that it was actually making her cry; she was sitting there, "alone", crying.

Kaleb sighed and looked around once more. He could hear the seagull's calls. "The town's pretty nice." he thought. He hadn't been to the meadow that Rosanne had mentioned yet, but the pier was a pretty cool place itself. He heard the footsteps approaching again. He was still thinking about unpacking, and he was thinking how Mayabella was. Maybe she was having fun somewhere else. He didn't really know. Kaleb had been told to go around town, and he didn't know why. Mayabella was told the same, too, but she probably went somewhere else. Maybe she just asked if she could stay in the backyard. Riley headed off to the library. The footsteps were getting louder. He closed his eyes again. The person who was approaching him would probably see him on the sand.
Kaleb opened his eyes to see who the person was. She'd tripped on him. He wasn't going to yell, but stood up. "Hey, do you need help?" he asked, and brushed the sand off of his jacket. He noticed the same hair. "...wait--" he paused for a moment. He knew this girl. "JC?" he listened to her crying, and felt rather sad himself, but he didn't know why. "Why are you crying?" he asked her in his mind silently. He took a seat next to her quietly, Kaleb didn't really care if she got angry that he was in this new town as well, and he didn't really have a choice. He couldn't move again. "Why are you crying?" he asked quietly, but kindly.

JC continued to cry, wiping her tears just to have fresh ones fall in their place. She was just making herself more frustrated and angry, no helping the situation at all. She was about to growl at the person behind her until he called her by name. She gasped and whipped around to find Kaleb sitting next to her, watching her at her worst moment. She was so embarrassed she didn't even have time to think of a reply or move except for flinging herself back into her knees, curling up and crying again.
When she finally got a hold of herself enough to where she thought she could trust herself to talk, she still kept her head on her knees with her arms wrapped around it. "Go away Kaleb. You always catch m-me at the w-worst times." She sniffed, angry again for stuttering. She scooted a little away from him, but other than that, didn't move. She didn't glare at him, didn't push him off somewhere else, didn't yell in his face. She'd gotten a little used to him popping up in places she'd been, so she wasn't surprised that he was here. She just wished he would stop watching her cry.

Kaleb shook his head. "I'm not leaving." he told her softly. He was serious, though. "Sorry, JC, but I want to know why you're crying." Kaleb sighed. He put his hands in his pockets, and looked straight at JC. Kaleb took a deep breath. "You alright?" he asked. He had never seen JC looking this upset. "New town?" he added in. He didn't want ask her too much questions, because she might get even more upset, but didn't want to ignore the fact that JC was crying. Kaleb looked back at the sky. The light blue was decorated with fluffy, white clouds and a yellow sun. It was a nice day. Very ideal for walking. He couldn't imagine why JC was crying. Maybe it was just the new town. They'd moved to Riverside before. Kaleb had, too, and now to Vipercork. He hadn't planned to meet her in Vipercork, but at least he already knew somebody in town. Kaleb thought about what would upset him on a day like this. He really didn't want to leave, but a new town would be great, too. Kaleb leaned back and fiddled with his fingers, thinking. He didn't want to see JC so sad. He really didn't want to see anybody sad. Especially his siblings and JC. Kaleb thought of ways he could cheer her up, but wasn't sure. What if she thought he was bothering her? Kaleb turned away for a few moments. "You alright?" he repeated again, brushing hair out of his eyes.

JC tried ignoring him, hating his stubbornness for once. She turned away from him, feeling his eyes in the back of her head. She wanted to look up and have him make everything ok, to just have him make her laugh or something. She would've been fine with anyone making everything alright. But her own stubbornness and pride was getting in the way of all that. She looked up finally when he asked again if she was alright, but glared at him. She scoffed at him, forcefully wiping tears away for a few seconds of clearness.
Standing up, she balled her fists, her eyes red and puffy, her body shaking, but she was determined to keep the same hatred scowl on her face. "Of course I'm not ok! I told you to leave me alone! I don't want your help or anything from you." She gave him another sharp, disgusted look, then turned away from him, tears rolling down her cheeks once more. I hate him... she told herself over and over just to make herself stay forward and not turn around and ran back to him.

If only Kaleb could find what was bothering JC, he would have tried to make her stop crying. When JC scoffed at him, Kaleb wanted to go back, and go away. He watched as JC stood up, clenching her fists. He stood up as well. "I'm not leaving." he told her sternly. "Not unless you tell me what's wrong." Kaleb sighed. Was he really going to help out, by just staying here? JC looked like she really needed him to go away. No. he thought. I'm not leaving. Not yet. Kaleb looked at JC, his black eyes kind.
He came in front of her. "Stop crying." he mumbled. He searched his pockets for a tissue to give her, but found nothing. "JC," he said as kindly as he could. "Why are you crying? It won't make anything better. What's wrong?" Kaleb prepared himself for JC to shout at him again, and get another glare from her, but he thought she didn't look like she was going to. He sighed.

JC clenched her fists, new tears of frustration falling down her pink cheeks. "Telling me to stop crying isn't going to do anything for me!" She yelled, about to turn her head back when he was suddenly in front of her. She almost ran into him and was completely startled by his sudden appearance. Instead of screaming in his face though, a look of fatigue suddenly washed over her face. "Dammit Kaleb..." she said to him softly and miserably, "Why do you always persist on trying to know what I'm thinking? Why are you so stubborn?" She hesitated but walked forward and put her forehead on his shoulder, closing her eyes, obviously worn out completely. She didn't care if he got freaked out. She just hoped he wouldn't move away so that she would fall on her face- she was practically leaning on him now.
"I'm tired and annoyed and lonely and everything keeps changing. I'm tired of moving. I'm tired of everything. Why can't I just stay in one place with the same people?" She was practically whispering everything out, like he wasn't right there. She didn't care what he heard anymore or what he thought of it. If he kept turning up, and refused to leave, then she might as well tell him things. She knew better than to try to argue with his stubbornness. She just wasn't up to fight today. She didn't want to be alone anymore, she actually didn't mind that he was here. Anyone would've done but having Kaleb, her best and almost only friend, right underneath her was comforting.

Kaleb frowned slightly at what she said. Was he really helping her, or just making her feel worst? Then JC spoke softly, her voice weak and frail. She was so unlike the JC he knew, the one that was tough and ready to fight. JC put her head against his shoulder. He nearly flinched, but didn't. "Because, JC..." he started. "Because I care. That's why. Because I care about you, JC." he said softly. "I'm tired and annoyed and lonely and everything keeps changing. I'm tired of moving. I'm tired of everything. Why can't I just stay in one place with the same people?" Kaleb shook his head and sighed, not knowing how to respond. Kaleb was JC's best-friend, and JC was his best-friend, aside from MayaBella and MahKenzai, she was his friend. "I don't know," he told her, then remembered what she said the first time they've met. "You're still with the same family, aren't you?" he asked softly. He remembered that JC had told him that she kept going from family from family. "Then, you're with the same people." he hoped that he wasn't being rude, because he wasn't trying to be rude. Kaleb was trying to help her out...

JC looked up, almost glaring at him. "Care? You care? Honestly, you don't have to put up the stupid pity act. " She moved off of him. She didn't run off or shove him or anything. She just stood there, staring at him at his next question. "I didn't mean that at all. I meant as in everyone else. I think..." She looked down, sighing and ran her hands through her hair. " like I think I would've gotten crushed if you weren't here. You're my only best friend outside of my family." She blushed, hating that she was admiring all of this to him. "It's just like you understand me and everything is ok when you're around. You may not say much, but even the little that you do fixes it." She looked up, puffing up her cheek (a habit she had wince she was little) and folded her arms. "And I've been stuck with you long enough. So come on, you're taking em to dinner to make me feel better." She grabbed his arm, walking over to the board walk. She would pay for her half or all of it if he wanted, but she just wanted to go out and do something to take her mind off of everything else.

Kaleb slightly frowned when he heard what he said. He was trying to help her, not make her feel like he was pitying her. Then he heard what he said next, and his frown disappeared. Kaleb smiled slightly. "It's just like you understand me and everything is ok when you're around. You may not say much, but even the little that you do fixes it." he heard her say. "And I've been stuck with you long enough. So come on, you're taking me to dinner to make me feel better." Kaleb laughed lightly. There's the JC I know... he thought, and nodded. "Sure, JC." he told her, then stood up. "Come on, then." he told her. "Hm..." he thought for a second, before a smile appeared on his face. "Do you want to go to the pier? We can go on the ferris wheel."

JC almost smiled when he started smiling at her. She kept her face straight though, trying to be her usual self. "Yeah, sure, as long as we get some food, I'm starving. You should get me a corn dog." She folded her arms, starting up the board walk towards the pier. She glanced back at him though, hesitating. "And uh.....thanks....for being there, you know?" She turned back around, then sighed. "Ha! I'll race you!" She said suddenly, breaking off into a run towards the pier, finally laughing. She grinned back at him, motioning for him to follow her.

"Yeah, sure, as long as we get some food, I'm starving. You should get me a corn dog." JC told him. Kaleb watched her fold her arms, and he smiled. "Sure, JC." he told her. "I'll buy you a corn dog." he started walking towards the giant ferris wheel, which was lit up with neon lights. People were squealing on the giant roller coaster, and playing the games there. "And uh.....thanks....for being there, you know?" Kaleb looked back at JC, and smiled slightly. "Um, yeah, no problem." he told her, then continued walking towards the pier. "Ha! I'll race you!" Kaleb was shocked by what he said, and he gave a smirk as she started running towards the pier, laughing. He quickly ran towards her, and stopped, laughing.

JC grinned, shrugging at him. "I never said you had a choice." She grinned, turning around again. At the moment, she didnt care if she sounded a bit rude. She knew he would understand her and know that she didnt mean it to hurt him like she would for almost anyone else she would've said it to. She laughed, speeding up a little, flicking her hair away from her face until he stopped. She grinned, turning around. "Why'd you stop? The corn dog stand is this way." She gestured towards her left, still grinning brightly at him. She actually liked that he was making her smile, making her feel better from all the stress from moving again and again. She was glad he was always there. She took a step to him and hugged him around his neck suddenly. "Thanks Kaleb. For everything." She kissed his cheek and blushed, hugging him closer to her so he wouldn't see it.

Kaleb laughed and nodded, walking towards the corn dog stand. She had a beautiful grin on her face, and a small smile appeared on Kaleb's face. He was startled when JC hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Thanks Kaleb. For everything." she told him, then kissed him on the cheek. She kissed me? he thought. He kissed her cheek. "Uh...yeah..." he smiled, "So...um..." Kaleb laughed, he wasn't usually shy around girls. He walked up to the corn dog stand, and handed JC her corn dog after paying the man some money. Kaleb a corn dog for himself. "So, JC..." he smiled, "Do you want to go on the ferris wheel?"
